Top Ways to Overcome Adversity

Hello everybody. Grand Master Berlow here from Empowered Mastery. It's really great to see you. We're in I guess the second week of December and I hope that you're having a wonderful holiday season and getting ready for spending good time with your family and friends. This week I talked about overcoming challenges, right. And I think a lot of you have challenges.

Do you, right, have some challenges that you had to overcome or are currently overcoming? I could definitely share that I definitely had my share. You know, just a long time ago I was building a building and it was 2008. I think 2008 was a time when a lot of people had challenges. And it was the hardest thing that I really ever did. We were way over budget. All the building expenses went up tremendously. Just the hardest time.

Didn't know how we were just pay for things, just the minimal things to provide for the family. Very rough time. But there were four things that I did that I wanted to share that really kept me focused and gave me the ability to overcome anything that was in front of me. So I wanted to share them. I did four things. I wrote it out this week. Number one was no matter what was in front of me, I never, ever considered it to be a problem. It was always a challenge. Unfortunately, I attracted a lot of challenges but it was definitely a challenge. But for me, personally, when there's a problem I kinda want to back off and run away.

I don't want a problem, right. I think in schools, the teachers should call it math challenges, not math problems. But if there's a challenge, I want to run to it. I want to approach it. I'll approach it with a whole different mindset, a whole different attitude on how can I accomplish this, rather than, oh my goodness, not me again, right, not this again. So really your perspective on whatever you're facing just makes a huge difference on your energy and your mental clarity in your approach.

Okay? So number one is it's not a problem, look at it as a challenge. Then you're more likely to approach it a little more energy, right. Then the second one is, again, no matter what was going on, even to this day if I have a challenge or something that's going on, I'm gonna remove myself from it. Usually I'll go out in nature, I'll do a hike, I'll do a mountain bike, I will train, whatever it is. Because your greatest ideas and solutions are not gonna come when you're in the mix, they're gonna come when you step away from it. And I've learned that just even through meditation, right.

Meditation, I know Grand Master Paul Melella talked about meditation this week, is gonna give you the ability, slow down the brainwaves, and you look at things more in a third-person perspective. And again, you gain much more clarity. So when you have that challenge or frustration, remove yourself, go do something fun, and you're gonna be amazed on how those solutions will come to you. And the third thing is, this is an easy one, and we always encourage it whether you're not facing a challenge or you are, is count your blessings and be grateful.

You know, when you look at the things and reflect on the things that you're grateful for, and what's most important, then you know you're gonna be okay, right. You're gonna realize that life is not so bad and things are going good. And the last thing is keep sight, keeps your sights on the end goal, or just the outcome that you're really looking for. Because every single thing in front of you, every single goal you have or objective you want to meet, you're gonna have struggles, you're gonna obstacles, you're gonna challenges, right. Nothing great comes easy. I think it's a fact, I mean nothing great comes easy.

You kinda have to earn it, right. And how you're gonna earn it is by simply keep your eyes focused on the outcome. Long time ago I heard somebody say to me, it was like this millionaire talking to a billionaire. And the millionaire asked the billionaire, "Well, how did you do it?" And he goes, "Well, if there was a body of water "and there were sharks all over the place, "and then there was the other side, right? "And you see what's on the other side. "See, when I look at something, I already visualize, "I already see myself on the other side, "and I don't see the sharks, "where most people are gonna focus on the sharks." And I thought that was really powerful. So when you keep your eyes focused on the big picture, for me back then, on that building.

You know back in 2008, I knew like I had no choice but to get that building done and I just focused on the outcome. Focused on getting it done, focused on getting it done. And of course, there were obstacle after obstacle, but I was able to make that happen. And you know, there's various stories, like climbing a mountain, right, for sure. Right, climbing a mountain, you don't think there are obstacles when you're climbing a mountain?

But when you get to the top, you keep your eyes focused on where you're going. Focus on where you're going, focus where you're going, then you're gonna see yourself get there. Okay, quick recap. Number one, it's not a problem, it's a challenge, right. Just that alone, it's worth its weight in gold. Number two, go out in nature, go and just take a little mini respite for whatever challenges that you're facing.

Then you'll develop the mental clarify and you'll look at things at a different perspective. Number three, count your blessings. Show some gratitude. And number four, keep your eyes focused on what you're really looking to accomplish and know and understand that you're gonna have obstacles along the way. All right, 'til next week, we'll talk to you soon and have a great, great, great week.
